It's been a ridiculously busy summer, we spent every weekend but one between May and Lily's birthday working on the Beach house. Basically camping at the construction site with 2 little kids can get a little hectic, but we had a lot of fun along the way!
4th of July means party time at the beach, with Auntie and Uncle and Grandma and GranDan coming down for some BBQ and Fireworks after we got done working for the day.
Matt with his safe n sane fireworks, Mentos and diet coke.
Helping uncle light a not so safe rocket.
Lily and GranDan, just watching the show.
Someone else picked up the camera for once, a picture of me!
Lily's own personal hot tub. She was a little dirty after rolling around outside all day. (No really, she was literally rolling in the dirt like a piglet!)
Matt got to use the GranDan cowtub hot tub since he wasn't as filthy.
We did do some stuff at home, I got out crabbing a few times. Last year I was the only one who would eat it. This year both kids were enthusiastic crustacean munchers.
Matt's claw vs. the Crab claw!
The one weekend that we didn't work on the beach house this summer we made our annual trip to the San Juans. Matt got to ride over with Gramma and GranDan in their boat, so Lily got to drag both parents around the ferry wherever SHE wanted to go.
Checking out the sea from the bow.
Auntie and Matt, one the way out in search of more crab.
Sarah holding Lil, while GranDan worked on refining Lily's new game, "Baby Bird". It's hard to see, but there is a gummi worm being dangled for her.
The kids nabbed a toy from the Walters boys to go for a ride.
Getting buried at the beach!
Lily and Gus had a good time playing trains. First time they've gotten to really play together since they were both so little last year.
Headed home on the Ferry.
Matt trying to imitate the seagulls.
Back to the beach house. With plenty of work to be done, both kids were put to work.
Electrical trenching.
Babysitting Grandma.
Cooking.
Just checking stability of the dirt pile.
Just cleaning up around the jobsite.
Lots of time (well for the kids) for fun too.
Throwing rocks.
Goofing with mom
Exploring
Collecting starfish.
This is what nap hair looks like.
Some weekends Matt just played too hard. Asleep before he could finish his Lollipop.
Random Fun from the summer
Lily just being Lily.
Turning into such a little man.
Not so much fun, Lily got the flu. This is what she looked like for 2 days.
This is what happens when Daddy has to do haircuts.
Quick Family portrait at Auntie and Uncle's house.
Mommy and her Monkeys!
Lily's birthday has now come and gone, and we have a big 2 year old in our house.
Opening Preasants with Grandma and Grandpa Johnson and Aunt Ann.
Jamie got her a giant Minnie Mouse balloon. It's been floating around the house scaring the crap out of me for a week now.
New Pony!
This is the face of a child who has just had a cupcake for breakfast.
Playing with hats.
For her birthday she wanted to go to the zoo. We hadn't taken her in a bit, she was threatening to go "By myself!".
She was too intimidated to feed the animals herself. Gillian solved that problem, Lily just passed them to her, she poked them through the fence.
Watching the exotic birds.
Checking out Santa's sleigh.
This is the face of a birthday girl who needs a nap.
Kitchen kids table for dinner.
Opening presents, getting a little help.
Riding her new BIG pony.
2 Candles!
Gillian enjoyed the frosting.
The next morning, she immediately found the big pony and went for a ride.
Headed to the pumpkin patch with the pumpkin head for a day of fun.
Checking out the pumpkins
Matt spied the one he wanted immediatly
Riding the cow train!
Matt got to fire the corn cannon. Good distance, but he needs to work on his accuracy.
The look on Lily's face pretty much says it all about her opinions on the corn cannon.
Swinging is much better.
Monkey climbing the monkey bars.
A little trip through the corn maze.
Kids both went for a pony ride.
Matt kept trying the convince the poor girl leading the horse to let go, he knew what he was doing.
Taking a little rest with on a pumpkins. Not long after this she let us know very clearly "All Done This Pumpkin Patch!" Time to go home for a nap again!
Lily has been experimenting with using the Potty. On her birthday she declared a need to poop, and so we threw her on the pot. Matt of course immediately had to go as well, so he was in the other bathroom. THIS is the kind of moment nobody ever really thinks about when they have kids.

Hopefully the next post will have pictures of us actually living IN the Beach house, instead of in the yard!
