Fathers day at the Cabin and Solids

Jamie, Matthew and I went to Cle Elum last weekend with GrandDan and Grandma, Elicia, Ryan, Ned and Poppy for Father's day.

Hanging with Grandma when we got there.

Hanging out in the Bar room.

You'd think we'd have some real toys for him, but no...

Check that hat. That's Cabin Chic for sure.

Saturday we went fishing. Well, Matthew slept, but GranDan and Ned were fishing. Still a really nice day to be out in the mountains.

Seems they caught some beers, not much else.

After Fishing we came back and hung out and watched some movies.

After a few nights of Matthew sleeping poorly, Jamie took him to the doctor today to make sure he didn't have an ear infection or anything. The doctor's reccomendation, he's a 1 year old, he needs more food.

So tonight we began adventures in solids. Tonight was breast milk in rice cereal. The verdict? We'll let you be the judge.

For certain Grandparents who missed the first feeding, we have video -

He's getting much better about tummy time, and occasionally gets up on his knees a little. Mobility can't be too far away. Scary.

Of course, tummy time is tiring.

Hamming it up for mom.

Hmmm, I know dad likes this thing for a reason, but I can't figure it out!

One of Matthews favorite games is bouncing. Enjoy the video - (needs sound)

New tricks!

Well, Matthews got a few new tricks to showcase. As we tried to show last time, he's got one tooth on the lower jaw. I got a better picture this time. There are several trick with the new tooth, all of them painful to the parents.

He's also gotten much more vocal, we'll try and get some good chirping video for next time.

Matthew got his first (very tiny) bite of solids, it was a chunk of Dad's banana. He didn't really know what to think, but in his tradition of not wasting food, it didn't come back out.

Matthew has learned to sit up. If he's focused on what's in front of him, he can sit like this for a while, but if he gets excited, or turns to look at something, he's going down.

Last but not least, the first injury. You'd think he cut his toe off by the size of the bandage, but it was barely a scrap from kicking the floor after too much time in the pool.

Last week Matthew was getting cranky one day, but he didn't want to sleep. So I put him in my lap and bounced him on the ball for a while. He started sliding down, then, he tipped over, then his eyes closed. Witness, the passed out baby.

On Thursday Grandpa, Grandma and Ann came over for dinner, Matthew had a good time.

Where's my food?

Ahhhh.. Tickle Torture!

Grandma's silly.

While I was diving this last weekend Jamie took Matthew to woodland park zoo with Grandpa for his Fathers day time with Matt. Looks like they had fun!

Hanging with Auntie Ann -

Grandpa, look at those silly swimming birds!

Grandma keeping him entertained!

Look at those little feet! (no comments about my ugly dogs)

Baby Teeth are Sharp!

Yesterday was Matt's 5 month birthday, and holy cow is he getting big. He hasn't been sleeping real well the last week or so, and he has been a little crankier than his usual self.

Saturday morning, he was sitting on my lap, and went to do his usual game of "chew on Dad's hand" I know it doesn't sound exciting, but he seemed to like it. That game came to a rapid halt when I felt the sharp little lower tooth digging into my palm. Too bad, game OVER.

We haven't managed to get the photographic confirmation yet, but don't worry, it's coming. This is the best we could get.

Ned, Elicia and Ryan helped us take the boat out for a little shakedown cruise on Lake Washington. Matthew likes to cruise.

As usual, boating wears him out a bit. Nothing like sleeping on the boat.

We lucked out and got two nice weekend days to be out. (Mt Rainer)

After boating we went back home for a little play in the baby pool, and BBQ.

Playing in the baby pool -

Crashing out on uncle Ryan. Pool time is rough.

Somebody tossed him on Ned. Ned apparently was afraid Matthew was gonna bite him, but he thought it was pretty funny.

Hanging out with Auntie! Ahh... comfy.

We also got to attend our buddy Jack Tull's second birthday. I managed to get a shot with all the kids at once. Jonah came over to say hello.

Matthew and Jack checking each other out and having a good time.

Before we got the super cool pool from Auntie, we used the Turtle as a pool. Matthew had fun, and note Jamie's shadow... worried he'd tip over I'm thinking!

After pool time, he fell asleep in my lap while we were eating. Passed O U T... out!

Matthew is getting much better at the tummy time and is working hard at the rolling over thing.

He has a new favorite toy to, he LOVES the orca whale. It is now crusty with baby slobber.

Jamie, Matthew, Kate and Ben went to Farrel Mcwhirter Park last week to look at the baby piglets and farm animals.

We had another baby animal in the backyard on Sunday.

Jamie just liked this outfit, I wonder why?

I'll try and post a little more often, events kind of blurred together on me from the last few weeks.
