GranDan's Birthday!

Friday was GranDan's Birthday, and I had the day off, so we all went to the zoo.

Had to start the morning off right, breakfast at Denny's!

Matt confused the other kids by referring to the lepord as Chicken.  We new this was going to be a problem eventually.

Polar Bears!  After this they came down to rub against the glass and gave Matt quite a show.

The zoo had a merry-go-round, so GranDan and Matt went for a ride.  Afterwards we heard the predictable "Horsey A-gain!"

 We stopped and checked out the old lumber camp #6 machinery on the way out. 

We ended the day leaving Matt with grandma while the rest of us went to the movies. After scouring the Entertainment book we managed to get all 3 of us in for $14.  Matt never napped, and made it about 3 blocks from grandma's before passing out.  He never woke up, It's 7:30 am and he's still sleeping.

GranDan did not get a cake this year, instead Jamie made one of his favorites, Grandma Virnig's (my grandma) chocolate cookies.  Matt got to help.  He's very excited.

Things you should know before watching this video - This was Thursday after dinner. Jamie was finishing up baking the cookies and Matt was still in his high chair working on a sugar cookie.  He gets 2 gummi vitamins after dinner, which is something he looks forward too all day.  You need sound.  Enjoy the baby stream of consciousness-

Further Matthew Adventures...

Matt continues to help with any project involving tools.

I insulated a cabinet in the kitchen to keep the furnace from heating up the food. Matt was "helping" get the insulation stuffed in nice and tight.

He's recently discovered the cooking involves "tools" as well.  Though they can be tastier than Daddy's tools.

He's getting to be quite the climber as well.  If it's got a hole to crawl through, he's all over it.

This weekend we went to the cabin to do some adventuring.We went to the Roslyn Museum to play on the coal cutters and had a nice long walk along the Iron Horse Trail, followed by lunch at a new place.

It's getting to be that time of year.  Brrr!

Pumpkin picking 2010

On Sunday we went to a new pumpkin patch with the Virnig clan and the Heidergotts.  Matt and Ben had a lot of fun checking out the animals, the tractors, rolling around in the pumpkin patch, and in general being little kids.

If there's a tractor around GranDan will find it for me!

The Barking Frog!

This is Matt's new frog shaped room humidifier, just arrived today.

Tonight after tub time I was carrying him into his room, and he let go of "quite a bit" of gas.  And when I say "quite a bit" I mean an adult size flatulation. Seriously, it was loud.

After finishing up, he giggles, then gets serious, looks at me, points at the frog, and says "Frog did farted!".

That's right folks, not even two and he's blaming it on the barking frog.

Turtles and Max

Matt has been playing with his stuffed animals a lot more lately.  He has a giraffe that lives in the crib that he sleeps with, and a pair of turtles (big turtle and little turtle).

The other day he came down to the kitchen with a pile of wipes and diapers, declaring that the turtle "Pooped.  Need a change it."

This is the resulting video, with a little bit of big turtle thrown in at the end.  Sorry it so long, but I couldn't bring myself to edit it down.(needs sound for sure!)

After that Jamie decided it was good time to break out his "little buddy" that we had been saving.  Matt's been carrying him around a lot, though not as much as "little turtle".

He named him Max after the charcter in his favorite Potty book.  So guess where Max wound up?

This is for Isaac, who asked why Craig the bear hasn't made an appearance lately.  

Matt's big enough to pick him up and toss him around now, he's been hiding out.

Doin' the Puyallup!

Thursday Matt, Jamie and I went to the Fair with Grandma and GranDan.  Since it was raining things weren't too crazy and Matt could walk right up to most of the stuff we wanted to see.  After going through the usually 4H animal stuff we headed out to the petting farm.

I'm not sure about the wisdom of letting little kids pet chicks.  I'm thinking when a one bites it they just grab another one out of that bin.  I thought for sure they were going to have to get a new one after Matt went for the box.

Bunnies seem more robust.

This goat was non-compliant with Matt, but GranDan knew how to fix that.

From the Petting Farm we went to the Pioneers display.  We didn't even need the interpreter, GranDan knew how to use everything from his childhood.

He didn't make it very far from the Pony rides before the day caught up with him. One tired boy.
