Chompers!

Well, Matthew now has 4 teeth, 2 uppers and 2 lowers. The lateral incisors seem to be close behind. Yikes!

He's been putting them to use with some more solid food. So far potatoes (Regular and Sweet) seem to be his favorite, though he eats banana, avocado, peas, and last night, some blueberry chunks. This was potato.







To help with cutting these sharp little suckers Auntie Elicia got us a rubber Q. It was so popular we bought some more. Here's both a Q and a P.



The cats have also been getting a little Matthew time. Chicken seems un-phased, but Harley is not a baby fan.



Taking advantage of some of the nice weather, Matthew has gotten a couple of swing sessions in. Check those shades.


We've also been working on standing a bit.

Last Thursday Grandpa and Grandma Johnson and Ann came over for dinner and to see Matthew. He developed this trick after dinner, we think he's playing with his teeth.



Last weekend we went to Bainbridge with Drew, Kate and Ben. The boys had a pretty good time all things considered. Both boys had some trouble sleeping.

It was getting cold outside, and I was too lazy to get Matthew's coat.



Monday I decided I'd rather not go to work, so we took Matthew to the Zoo instead.

One of Matthews favorite things has become bath time. One night I started adding water to warm up the bath, and he went ape. He loves to play in the stream of water.





Tonight we learned that Matthew does NOT like the sound of a tape measure being rolled back up. We were measuring the basement, poor boy about lost his mind. No pictures, but I thought it was kind of funny.

6 Months Old! How'd THAT happen?

Well, Matthew is 6 months old. That went FAST! He's about 20lbs now, and he's putting the stretch on some of those 12M clothes. Yikes! I look at the feet and dread buying shoes for him in highschool. Where does Sasquatch buy his shoes? He's got so much hair now, and the second bottom tooth is pretty well fully in. Check it out -


On the 4th we went to our friend Paige's sixth birthday. I was lazy with the camera, but I did get one good one of Matt and Jack having fun.

Later, Jamie got him all dressed up in his 4th of July clothes. We didn't go seek out a good fireworks display, we did watch some of them launched from out neighborhood though. Matt wasn't sure what to think.




Last Wednesday we got together for Ned's send off to Texas. Auntie brought home her little electric car, and Matthew got his first driving lesson.


Maybe we should have thought this through....


In the spirit of all tabloid magazines at the barber, Who wore it better?


Matthew had fun, but he was tired on the drive home.


Matt's getting better at being on his tummy, and looks to be going mobile soon. (again, yikes!) He'll get way up on his hands, and he's working at getting his knees under him. A few seconds after this picture he rolled over. Mostly because one arm gave in.


One of his favorite spots to chill and play with toys is on the couch.

Fathers day at the Cabin and Solids

Jamie, Matthew and I went to Cle Elum last weekend with GrandDan and Grandma, Elicia, Ryan, Ned and Poppy for Father's day.

Saturday we went fishing. Well, Matthew slept, but GranDan and Ned were fishing. Still a really nice day to be out in the mountains.


Seems they caught some beers, not much else.


After Fishing we came back and hung out and watched some movies.


After a few nights of Matthew sleeping poorly, Jamie took him to the doctor today to make sure he didn't have an ear infection or anything. The doctor's reccomendation, he's a 1 year old, he needs more food.

So tonight we began adventures in solids. Tonight was breast milk in rice cereal. The verdict? We'll let you be the judge.







For certain Grandparents who missed the first feeding, we have video -


He's getting much better about tummy time, and occasionally gets up on his knees a little. Mobility can't be too far away. Scary.


Of course, tummy time is tiring.

New tricks!

Well, Matthews got a few new tricks to showcase. As we tried to show last time, he's got one tooth on the lower jaw. I got a better picture this time. There are several trick with the new tooth, all of them painful to the parents.

He's also gotten much more vocal, we'll try and get some good chirping video for next time.

Matthew got his first (very tiny) bite of solids, it was a chunk of Dad's banana. He didn't really know what to think, but in his tradition of not wasting food, it didn't come back out.

Matthew has learned to sit up. If he's focused on what's in front of him, he can sit like this for a while, but if he gets excited, or turns to look at something, he's going down.

Last but not least, the first injury. You'd think he cut his toe off by the size of the bandage, but it was barely a scrap from kicking the floor after too much time in the pool.

Last week Matthew was getting cranky one day, but he didn't want to sleep. So I put him in my lap and bounced him on the ball for a while. He started sliding down, then, he tipped over, then his eyes closed. Witness, the passed out baby.

On Thursday Grandpa, Grandma and Ann came over for dinner, Matthew had a good time.

While I was diving this last weekend Jamie took Matthew to woodland park zoo with Grandpa for his Fathers day time with Matt. Looks like they had fun!
